All About Beautycounter

Guys. Last month I turned 38! My beauty “routine” until a few years ago consisted of washing my face with Noxzema and moisturizing with Aveeno body lotion! Seriously! I am not lying about this. I cringe a little just tying that out, but maybe you can relate? I would try random drugstore products here and there, but never stuck with any long term. When I turned 35, I was like — Girl, you need to start taking care of your skin! Those forehead wrinkles are really started to show! (Now, I want to be very clear; there is nothing wrong with aging. Aging and growing old is a privilege. I just would like to do it a little slower, more gracefully and without Botox.)

So that year I started using more products and tried to be as consistent as possible. I probably used Honest and Biosassance products the most, but still wasn’t totally happy with my results. And if you’re familiar with either of those brands, they are on the “cleaner” side. And at the time, I really started taking interest into “cleaner”, “low-tox” living. I was hearing and learning about all the bad ingredients that are beauty products and foods are filled with and was on my own mission to start switching out products (both home & beauty) for better, low-tox options.

We deserve better.

So, if you didn’t know, there are little to no regulations in the personal care industry! The US only bans 30 ingredients and hasn’t passed a law regulating beauty safety since 1938!! 🤯 A lot of chemicals that are found in our every day beauty & household products have never been tasted for safety and can be linked to serious health concerns such as infertility, hormone disruption, birth defects and even cancer.

When I read those facts, everything changed for me and it was one of the main reasons I started using Beautycounter. They are on a mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone through advocacy for industry wide regulations and they have their own Never List. It’s a list of over 1,800 harmful or questionable ingredients that are not used in their products. Awesome right? Using and sharing products with safer ingredients is a must for me now because I'm really tired of companies selling us products that have harmful effects on our health.

Some of my FAVORITE Beautycounter products

My product shelf is getting very crowded and I LOVE it! I’m becoming a skincare junkie more and more everyday! haha And just a little reminder, skincare isn’t one-size fits all. My favorites might not be yours and yours might not be mine, but we have a lot of great options for ALL skin types. So when you’re ready to try some, these might be a good place to start.

+ Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion - If you’re looking for a lightweight, but hydrating face lotion this is for you.

+ Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream - Similar to the lotion, this night cream is super lightweight, hydrating & helps revitalize and repair the skin while you sleep!

+ Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum - serum for hydration and fine lines

+ Charcoal Face Mask - I love a mask. This one has kaolin clay with activated charcoal that purifies those pores and absorbs excess oil. Unlike other charcoal masks, this one contains salicylic and lactic acids to gently exfoliate your skin.

+ Body Lotion - A great basic! Super lightweight, but still hydrating and comes in subtle citrusy scent. Switching out your body lotion to something safer would be a great first swap because it covers your entire body!

+ Body Lotion - A great basic!

These are just a few of my favorites that I think could work for anyone! Skincare is so personal and individual to each person. If you have any questions about products, need helping customizing a skincare routine, shoot me an email or message me on Instagram! I’d be so happy to help you!
