First Order from Thrive Market

If Costco and Whole Foods had a baby, it would be named Thrive Market. And if you’ve ever wondered if it was a good deal or not, I’m sharing my thoughts.

Thrive Market has been around for awhile and I have considered joining in the past, but could never pull the trigger. Plus, I’m already a fan and shopper of a similar site, Vitacost, so I just never really thought I needed to. One of the biggest things that held me back from Thrive was the membership fee (Vitacost doesn’t have one), but honestly, after all the discounts and perks to sign-up, it kind-of evens out and felt like the freebies basically covered my membership fee. Girl math. lol My membership fee was $59. I got $30 off my first order and a free gift (a box of Chomps valued at $25) and free shipping, so I thought it was a win-win and decided to give it a try, for at least a year!

Pros & cons about Thrive Market

The biggest thing is the membership fee, which is both a pro & con in my opinion. They offer monthly ($12/month) & annual ($59.95 or $5/month) memberships and with that, you do get some really great perks. They have a large selection of diet-specific items if you’re gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, vegan, etc. I have also found Thrive Market to be 5~20% cheaper on average than my local Food Lion & Harris Teeter grocery stores. There are ways to earn Thrive cash (store credit) and a lot of times they have free gifts with purchases. Oh and free shipping with orders over $49!

Overall, I don’t see to many cons with Thrive. Some items require you to buy them in multiples. For example, you must “buy 2” boxes of mac and cheese or cans of beans, which I understand for shipping purposes. And sometimes things are sold out, so that could be a bummer if you need something. Also, I don’t love that you can’t even see prices unless you’re a member. So if you ever have a question or need me to compare prices, just message me! I’d love to help!

What I got in my first order

To be honest with you, I didn’t really have a plan and was a little overwhelmed. They have so much stuff!!! I wanted to buy everything!

I got a couple snacky things (chips/crackers/candy), household items (stain spray & cotton pads), my favorite celtic sea salt & granola, dry shampoo I’ve been wanting to try and just some other random things. I got $30 off this order, the free box of chomps and free shipping for a total cost of about $77. The dry shampoo and coconut water cost about $30 alone, so I thought it was a pretty good deal! Shipping was super quick too and everything was packaged great and everything arrived intact - nothing was broken or leaking. If you order from Amazon, you know they are lacking in that department! They should take some notes on how to ship things properly.

Some final thoughts

Do I think it’s worth it? Yes, I do. Like I mentioned before, a lot of their prices are cheaper than my local stores. I do think Vitacost is very similar with pricing, but they don’t have frozen foods/wine or offer the same amount of gifts/freebies. I think Thrive is a great option to have, even if you just try it for a year! The savings/gifts you get with your first order basically cover the membership fee, so to me, it’s a win-win. If you have any other questions about Thrive, just leave a comment or send me a message!
